Spelling and Grammar (SpaG)

Phonics (optional)

If you feel as though your child would benefit from continuing phonics practise, please use the links below.

Similarly, if you would like to use these activities instead of or in addition to the reading practise above, please feel free to do so.

LO: To use apostrophes to write simple contracted words.

Today, we are going to be learning to use apostrophes for contractions. We sometimes use apostrophes to squash two words into one shorter word e.g. Can not would become can't.

  1. Watch both lesson videos below.
  2. Rewrite the sentences and change the words in red to their contracted form.

1. She will come over tomorrow.

2. I will go to the football game.

3. It has been a gloomy day.

4. I do not understand what you mean.

5. Billy was not eating any of the cake.

Now have a go at writing some of your own sentences using the contractions below:

It’s        I’m         We’ll         He’s         Don’t

LO: To practise and know the 5 times-table.

Play 'Hit the Button' to practise your number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. What's your highest score?

Watch the video below. You might need to pause the video to do some working out. Write your answers into your remote learning book.

If you would like some extra practise, you can complete the questions on the worksheet below either by printing out the worksheet, writing on top on the worksheet via activities on Class Dojo, or by writing your answers into your remote learning book.
