RE

This half term we are thinking about 'Jesus, friend to everyone'. We will be listening to lots of Bible stories about how Jesus has been a good, helpful friend to others. Follow the lesson links and activities below:

Activity 1:

Jesus and the children

(Mark 10:13-16)

In Jesus’ time children were not thought of as very important. So when people brought their children to be blessed by Jesus several adults tried to stop them. However, Jesus told them to let the children come to him.

Task:

  1. Go through the pictures below. What do we know about Jesus from looking at these pictures?
  2. Listen to the story of Jesus and the children (Mark 10:13-16)
  3. Create your own piece of artwork which shows the story of Jesus and the children (Mark 10:13-16). You can use any materials that you have at home or create your artwork as a new portfolio entry on Class Dojo.

Activity 2

Blind Bartimaeus

(Mark 10:46-52, Luke 18:35-43)

Everyday people walked passed Bartimaeus and ignored him. On that day, Jesus took notice. Jesus saw him, listened and helped. Why? I wonder how Bartimaeus felt when Jesus spoke to him?

In today’s world, this would be a sensational news story.

What would be the headline?

    Task:

    1. Listen to the story below.
    2. Re-write the story in the style of a newspaper report.

    You will need to think about the following;

    • a name for your paper
    • a sensational headline
    • interview from a witness (don't forget to put what they say in speech marks "..")
    • you want it to be read by lots of people so use exciting descriptions and use exclamation marks ! to draw their attention - make it sensational
    • end with your name as the reporter
