Homework
During this year, children will be given homework each week. This will be in the form of a Maths and/or English activity, either on paper or online via Purple Mash. These activities will be very beneficial for their SATs preparation. The tasks are carefully selected to cover either topics we have learned in class during the previous week, or topics from previous year groups which are important to revisit and not forget.
Homework tasks will be set on a Monday each week, and children given a week to complete them.
Our school's homework policy can be found here:
Spellings
New spellings will be sent home on a practice sheet each Friday, as well as a quiz or activity being set on Purple Mash to help practice at home. Spellings will be tested the following Friday in school.
It is vitally important that children practice their spellings each week. In order to meet the expected standard to writing at the end on Key Stage 2, children should be able to spell most of the words on the Year 5 & 6 Spelling Word List:
PE
In Year 6, we have PE every Wednesday. Please ensure children come to school in their PE kits on this day every week.
PE kits should be a plain, white top; plain, dark shorts or joggers and dark trainers. School jumpers or cardigans can be worn over the top.
SATs
The Year 6 children will sit their end of Key Stage 2 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) in May 2026. For more information, please click on the link below:
