Children's Mental Health Week 2021

Children's Mental Health Week 2021 took place from 1-7 February 2021.

This year's theme was...

Express Yourself

Here are some amazing things our children did as part of our learning this week, both at home and in school.

Year 1

Today in Year 1 (and children at home on Zoom!) read the story 'Rusty the Squeaky Robot'. The story tells us about Rusty, a robot who is a bit different to his friends because of his squeak! Rusty finds it hard to love himself at first. But with the help of his friends, who each have their own different sounds, Rusty learns to love himself and his squeak. We expressed ourselves through art in response to this story by drawing our own robots. We followed instructions and even gave them a name! Then we discussed how even though our instructions were the same, all of our robots were so different!

We have also had fun with the 'Squiggle Game' from the Place2Be website. We began by drawing a big squiggle on our page then we transformed these into wonderful pictures!

Year 2

Year 3

Year 3 enjoyed coming up with our own mindfulness doodles! We listened to relaxing background music as we created them.

Year 4

Year 5

We completed these activities after a fantastic class discussion on how we can look after our mental health and wellbeing.
