Sefton coastline has a rich and diverse coastline. It provides a unique setting to facilitate holistic learning through play and participant lead investigation. Coastal School is Plas Derw’s holistic combination of all coastal environments combined with Forest School unique pedagogy.
In June 2017 Mrs Francis gained her Level 3 Coastal School qualification.
As part of the Reception curriculum at St Johns, children will have the opportunity to visit the beach over a number of visits. Children will gain an understanding of things such as tides – high and low, building shelters, beach art work. This enhancement allows for children to experience nature and outdoor learning in their local environment.
